STAND has responded to Education Scotland's Consultation on "School inspections: Shape What's Next".
STAND is deeply concerned by the recurring patterns in recent inspection reports that:
Frame distress as behaviour.
Emphasise conformity ("appropriate eye contact," "good listening").
Contradict national guidance like NAIT Key Messages.
Risk identifying individual children in small schools.
Inspection reform must go beyond adjusting processes; it must address how Education Scotland understands and evaluates neurodivergent children.

Falkirk Council - Proposals about Enhanced Provision
STAND has responded to Falkirk Council's Consultation on "Proposed Changes to Enhanced Provision Model of Support" expressing deep concerns about proposed changes to Enhanced Provision for children with additional support needs. We urge Falkirk Council to withdraw the current proposal and instead co-design a new, rights-based inclusion strategy with families and sector experts.
The closing date for responses is Monday 27 October 2025 and the survey can be completed here.

Proposed Learning Disabilities, Autism and Neurodivergence (Scotland) Bill
STAND responded to the Scottish Government's consultation on the Learning Disabilities, Autism and Neurodivergence (Scotland) Bill (often referred to as the "LDAN Bill"). We highlighted the need for greater support for parents and carers of neurodivergent children, mandatory training for public sector staff, and improvements in areas such as health, housing, and education for neurodivergent individuals.
