At STAND, we understand that parenting a neurodivergent child can feel overwhelming, and sometimes you just need to connect with someone who gets it. That’s why we run our WhatsApp Support Chat Groups — safe, friendly spaces where families can share experiences, ask questions, and offer encouragement 24/7.
With over 800 families already involved, these groups are a lifeline for many parents and carers across East Lothian and beyond. They provide instant, low-pressure support — whether it’s advice about navigating school, reassurance during a tough day, or celebrating a small but meaningful win.
Our groups are moderated by experienced volunteers to make sure they stay welcoming, respectful, and inclusive. Families can also join specific topic “channels” — such as education, diagnosis, or benefits — to find the information and peer support most relevant to them.
Parents tell us the WhatsApp groups help them feel less isolated, more confident, and better supported, knowing they are part of a community that truly understands.
This is peer support at its most accessible — available anytime, anywhere, and always grounded in kindness and shared experience.
